He Leadeth Me

He Leadeth Me

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.  (Isaiah 43:2)
Sometimes it’s difficult to see, but God does lead the Christian in every situation.  What a wonderfully blessed thought—in every situation.  Whatever we do wherever we go, God still leads.  In those everyday tasks?  Yes, “whate’er” we do.  In those unpleasant places?  Yes, “where’er” we be—“still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.”
All of our pathways are not paved smoothly, nor are they lines with fragrant flowers.  In fact, sometimes the scenes are very gloomy.  Have you had a day recently when everything seemed to go wrong?  Remember, He leads, not only in our trying experiences, but through them.
Some days are so very troublesome.  We feel tossed around though we were in turbulent waters.  Other days prove to be clam, peaceful and refreshing.  But in either or both situations, God’s wonderful hand still leads.
Job witnessed the Lord’s leading through suffering.  God led Daniel through a den of vicious lions.  The children of Israel were sent through deep and treacherous waters.  God led, not only in, but through all of these situations.
The Lord took John Bunyan through long years in the dreary prison cell and David Livingstone through animal-infested jungles.  But He led.
The situations you face may not be easy, but all are within God’s control.  Like a fighting soldier who faces the stress and strain of war, the commanding officer continues to lead on.
And then finally, time runs out; our earthly walk and work are completed.  Now, through “death’s cold wave” God leads again, but this time He leads His faithful followers—home.
